A hearty welcome to My Healthy Paleo where…

Should we listen to you because you are a nutritional expert or some kind of fitness guru?

Let me get this out there right upfront; I am neither a nutritionist or any kind of guru.  Quite frankly, I am probably the last person you would expect to write a post about weight-loss as I am a north of 65 year-old male.  I am not some 20 year-old who stays in shape by just getting out of bed in the morning nor can/will I provide you with any scientific explanation as to why it works.   Doesn’t it make sense to listen to someone, a REAL person, who has enjoyed some remarkable results by following the Paleo diet?  Hell yes!

Before we go any further, get a load of some of the benefits below that followers of the Paleo diet have experienced:

In addition to the above, believe me when I tell you that your sexual drive will be significantly enhanced.  You will win the lottery and get your own reality tv series…okay those two might be a stretch.

Please remember as you begin your journey that….

  1. Hi Sal!

Excellent and professional looking website-Way above average I would say, Your background and story under “About me” present some strong arguments for following this diet-good selection of headings and back up information as to why one should try his diet.

Good reference information under FAQs and food list.

Good blend of text and colors and images,-makes website
very readable-like your headings which make the content on the
    site appealing and informative.

Good start and good luck on your site-Lots of potential-I wish you
the best on your site progress and hope you’ll find time to
visit my site and leave me some feedback.

    • Thanks so much for the in-depth critique…sometimes we think we are doing well and get blindsided with adverse comments! Rest assured thatI will look at your site and offer constructive review.

Thanks again and hope we WIN together on WA!

  2. A friend of mine told me about your site and I must say it’s great! Definitely a great source of information! I’ve been struggling with my weight for a number of years, now. I am in no means, ‘fat’, but it would be nice to have my sixpack again, haha! My idea of diet is rabbit food. you know, just vegetables, no meat, and definitely no flavor. It really nice to learn that Food can taste good, when I’m trying to get in to shape. Again, great site!

  3. I’m pretty pleased to discover this page. I wanted to thank you for your time for this
wonderful read!! I definitely liked every bit
of it and I have you book marked to check out new information in your site.

  4. Great article… I have heard of this diet over the years but never really understood it. I think it’s great that you list all the benefits. That alone get’s one to thinking that it really couldn’t hurt to at least try the diet.

    • Ib,

Thanks so very much for taking the time to visit and submit comments! I’ll make a deal with you….you try one of those smoothies listed in the recipes and if you don’t like it I’ll buy you one for free…lol.

      Thank you again,

  5. Wow, great info.
I have not heard this diet until I read your post. But I am into healthy dieting and organic food. And I am not into just because is popular, but because it is healthy and it is good for your body.
My latest thing that I am into it was Juicing and I would definitely try the Paleo.
    Thanks for sharing.

    • Ilina,

Thanks so very much for the visit and taking the time to write a comment! I’m so pleased to tell you that not only am I listing the benefits moreover I’m living the benefits!

      Thank you again!

  6. Hi Sal,

You site is so fun to read, I really like your about me page, it seems like you do so much than some of the guys 1/2 your age (don’t ask me how I know haha). I started researching about Paleo lifestyle couple weeks ago, it seems very interesting and I am hoping that eventually it would help me eliminate my daily medication for hypertension. I am collecting all the information so I can discuss with my dr in couple weeks.

    • Phoebe,

Thanks so much for the comments and for taking the time to visit my site! Keep me posted with regard to your Dr’s. comments concerning your hypertension. I will state to you unequivocally that following the Paleo diet will significantly help you eliminate the problem. Now as far as guys 1/2 my age….lol!

      Thanks again,

  7. Love your creativity with the word art! I’m a big fan of Paleo lifestyle but I really have a hard time sticking to it. I struggle with being a junk food junkie … I’ll be super good for a while then sadly the smell of bread beckons me 🙁 Any advice on winning the struggle?

  8. Hi Sal,
I am probably a good commenter since I’ll be 67 in a week. I don’t do a paleo diet, but have always been careful about my health. So my stats are pretty much like yours. Never had anything over 130.70 and usually its 110/60. I avoid sugar but not entirely, since I had a honey and coconut drink I made this evening. The main thing is I eat unprocessed food and not too much carbos. Basically, chicken fish fruits veggies and ‘good’ rice–brown or red which is not available in the USA. I do about an hour of yoga and stretching every day, and some walking or bicycling. And also meditation. So that has probably contributed to my never having needed the kind of medical industrial treadmill prescription meds that enrich the corporations and in the end are not as good as simply living a conscious life and taking care of ourselves.
I am glad to hear you’re doing the same!

    • Greetings Sal,
My lifestyle is very similar to Eric except if he does an hour of yoga daily, he’s actually getting more exercise than me. I just recently started Tai Chi for beginners with Dr. Lam.
I wanted to ask if a person was to do Paleo diet let’s say half of the year , then added dairy, breads, etc back into the diet the other half do you think he would achieve the same degree of success that you have had? Are dairy, wheat and grains so harmful to our systems that be shouldn’t eat them at all? Confused: we should eat the cow, but not drink the milk. Is that what Paleo is about , too?

All the best on your site, it’s a winner! I have already bookmarked it.
      Take care, LinaB

  9. Get Graphics and content! Love your sense of humor, and honesty ! I’ve been on numerous Paleo websites and yours is as good if not better then most!

  10. Great article! The Paleo Diet seems just what I been searching for. I hit my mid 40’s and started putting on weight and can’t seem to get rid of it. Thanks for sharing this valuable information, I will definitely check into it. Jeffrey

  11. Hello, Sal. The Paleo Diet sounds really good. I enjoyed reading this article so much that I had to read the What is Paleo Diet and I’m going to check out the recipes you have. Thanks!`

    • Heg,

Sincerely appreciate the visit and taking the time to write a comment. Trust me when I say that by going Paleo I feel as if I have found the Fountain of Youth!

      Hope to see you often,

  12. I like your honesty. I like that you’re a real person who is using this product and can speak from your experience and not some ad that makes promises and doesn’t deliver.

I’ve never heard of the Paleo Diet so I might check it out. I’m actually going through the process to have bariatric surgery however, I’m still not sure it’s the best thing for me. I want to exhaust every avenue before I make the plunge. And Paleo is something I’d like to look at before I do.

    • Rawl,

Sorry for the delayed response as I usually get to respond ASAP. First I’d like to thank you for visiting this site and for taking the time to write a comment. I would like to ASSURE you that I am a very REAL person and that everything I have stated regarding the benefits I have achieved by adopting to the Paleo lifestyle is factual. I know quite a few people who have opted for the Bariatric surgery procedure…one is my own son. You can achieve very significant weight-loss…however, your capability to eat food will be drastically altered. Even now approx. 4-years after surgery my son can barely eat a full slice of pizza in a sitting. I would strongly recommend exploring all options available prior to the surgery. Speaking as one person the Paleo diet has done wonders and I would be amazed if it didn’t help you.

PLEASE keep me posted on your progress and decision.

  13. Haha, you’re funny!! 🙂 I like the “this website will make you win the lottery and get you your own reality TV series…” – I’ll look forward to all those great things happening!! 😀 hehe
I’d like to find out more about what a “paleo diet” actually is though on this home page… do you have a blog about it that you could link to from here maybe??
I look forward to delving deeper into this site and finding out more…. (…and to my lottery win!!!!) 😛

  14. Hi Sal,

you make an excellent point, getting advice from a REAL person who’s seen results is what people want, we’ve had enough of photoshopped, “perfect” people telling us how to lose weight or stay healthy, since their image seems to scream “I was born slim and healthy and never ever had to deal with being overweight”. I’d much rather listen to someone who’s been to hell and back with their issues, and now boast a great and healthy body. That’s convincing, no Photoshop needed. Great page!

    • Thanks for the great comment! On the whole I sincerely believe that the health industry (including food) does a disservice to people by showing pics of body-perfect models (yes, most if not all are photo-shopped). I’ll be writing a post about that in the next few days!

Again, REALLY appreciate the comment and the insight into what I’m attempting to piece together!

  15. I’m not far from 20, but a few of the benefits on that list really sound like heaven to me.
And I am convinced it all has to do with what I’m eating or not eating.
But I’m not there yet to change my diet. Maybe if I read about it more often I’ll get there soon.
    So I’ll be coming back!

  16. Hi Sal!
It is really fantastic! when you said : my blood pressure is down to 120/68 from 150/92. I have drink medicine every day for blood pressure, this Paleo diet could be the answer for me. I also believe our health could be determined by the food we eat everyday, but I don’t really know how big is the food impact on our body. It is a nice and informative blog and it seems you have prove a lot of things here, especially with your wife…… I will try this diet and comeback to this blog again for any new reference.

    • First I want to thank you for the visit and for taking the time to write a comment! Regarding the healthy benefits of the Paleo diet…I along with the vast majority of the scientific community believe wholeheartedly that what foods we consume are the major contributors to our health or lack of same.

      Again, thanks for the visit!!

  17. I like the humanity in your writing. I’m not looking to do the paleo diet or lose weight right now but if I were your site offers a lot of good information to get me started.

I’m a sugar lover. I love sweets. Would I have to give up sweets to do the paleo diet?

    Thank you.

    • Hey Rawl…Great to hear from you and hope all is well! The great part of Paleo is that you can keep and satisfy your “sweet tooth”…the only difference is that you will be substituting refined sugar(s) with in some cases honey, Stevia (natural herb), maple syrup and fresh fruits. I sicerely appreciate your complimentary comments regarding my writing! Believe me it has made a tremendous difference in my overall physical and mental health!

      Hope to chat soon!

  18. Thank you for another informative site. Where else could I am
getting that kind of information written in such an ideal approach?
I have a challenge that I’m simply now operating on, and
I have been on the look out for such info.

  19. Posted on December 18, 2012 at 4:46 amMy brother reemomendcd I might like this website. He was entirely right. This post actually made my day. You can not imagine simply how much time I had spent for this info! Thanks!

  20. I always appreciate hearing from an “ordinary” guy…if you know what I mean! Real people who talk about real events/happenings in their health. Down to earth advice which is easy to follow…yeah, that’s good to me!

I would not call myself paleo, but I do follow an awful lot of their recipes. I don’t think I have a tag but am very interested in health in general.

Thanks for putting the time into this site as it helps me and I’m sure it will help others.

  21. Hey Sal

A 65 year old can still stay in great shape 😉 And to be honest, I’m glad you’re not a guru because they are the people who often squeeze you for money to “discover their special secrets.”

To me, the Paleo diet sounds perfect because as a 35 year old, I really need to get back in shape and get beck to being healthy, both in mind and body 🙂 So consider your site bookmarked as I will be back for help with getting on track with my health.

    • Neil,

In all sincerity thank you very much for the visit and for taking the time to comment. If I can help you at all with achieving a healthier you please don’t hesitate to ask!

      Again, thanks for the visit.

  22. Nice article, Sal. When you really get down to it, Paleo was THE main way of eating before agriculture and farming methods came along. Thanks for taking up back to the way our bodies were meant to eat and nourish themselves.

    • Warren,

Thanks for the visit and for taking the time to write a comment! You nailed it with the concept of the Paleo diet being going back to a time prior to GMO induced, refined sugar, artificial preservatives. etc.
