Amazon Wastes No Time in Cutting Whole Food Prices

Amazon Cuts Whole Foods Prices as Much as 43% on First Day

Amazon Wastes No Time in Cutting Whole Food Prices

By Jennifer Kaplan, and Matthew Boyle for Bloomberg

Amazon.com Inc. spent its first day as the owner of a brick-and-mortar grocery chain cutting prices at Whole Foods Market as much as 43 percent.

In a sign of how the retailer is changing, the Amazon Echo, a voice-activated electronic assistant, was also for sale, for $99.99 — a sharp pivot into electronics for a company known for kale and quinoa. The Echo Dot, a smaller version, was advertised for $44.99.

The tech giant’s $13.7 billion purchase of Whole Foods has sent shock waves through the already changing $800 billion supermarket industry. The wedding between Amazon and the upscale grocery promises to upend the way customers shop for groceries. Cutting prices at the chain with such an entrenched reputation for high cost that its nickname is Whole Paycheck is a sign that Amazon is serious about taking on competitors such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Kroger Co. and Costco Wholesale Corp.

“Price was the largest barrier to Whole Foods’ customers,” said Mark Baum, a senior vice president at the Food Marketing Institute, an industry group. “Amazon has demonstrated that it is willing to invest to dominate the categories that it decides to compete in. Food retailers of all sizes need to look really hard at their pricing strategies, and maybe find some funding sources to build a war chest.”

6 Free Burgers with Your Order Over $49!

At the store on East 57th Street in Manhattan, organic fuji apples were marked down to $1.99 a pound from $3.49 a pound; organic avocados went to $1.99 each from $2.79; organic rotisserie chicken fell to $9.99 each from $13.99, and the price of some bananas was slashed to 49 cents per pound from 79 cents. The marked-down items had orange signs reading “Whole Foods + Amazon.” The signs listed the old price, the new price and “More to come.”

Discounts were comparable at other Whole Foods stores in San Francisco and Seattle. Amazon declined to comment.

Praying for Texas

Our prayers and thoughts are with the people of Texas during the horrific flooding.

Here’s How To Help The Victims Of Hurricane Harvey

Donations of food, money and blood are all sought.

click below picture to view video

The devastation from Hurricane Harvey continues to be felt throughout Texas, as heavy rains and catastrophic flooding are expecting to continue for days.

Although the extent of the damage and death toll is not yet clear, the National Weather Service is already calling the storm “unprecedented.” Major highways are submerged in floodwaters, emergency services have received thousands of calls and authorities are urging residents to stay in place.Recovering from the disaster could take years, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There are an untold number of homes and people affected, and the additional flooding and rainfall is set to make the situation even worse. As emergency services, charities and aid groups gear up to address the massive need from Harvey, here are some ways that you can help.

1. Donate Or Volunteer

A plethora of organizations are appealing for donations to help them as they send volunteers and supplies to the hardest-hit areas.

These include the American Red CrossThe Salvation ArmySamaritan’s Purse, Save The Children, the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief and Heart to Heart International.

Food banks throughout Texas are also accepting donations for people affected by the storm. You can donate money to Feeding Texas, a network of the state’s food banks, here. Additionally, the Elgin Courier has compiled a list of food bank locations throughout the region that may need donations of food or supplies.

The local Texas Diaper Bank is putting together disaster relief kits for families with young children. You can donate here

There is also the Coalition For The Homeless, which helps coordinate shelters and outreach for the city’s vulnerable homeless population.

Portlight is a local organization that offers relief to the disabled and older adults.

The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce is raising funds to assist in recovery efforts in those two communities, which were especially hard hit when the hurricane first made landfall. You can donate here.

Crowdfunding site GlobalGiving has launched a hurricane relief fund aimed at gathering funds for local nonprofits in the storm-stricken region.

Animal shelters and rescue groups are taking in numerous pets displaced by the storm ― ones that got lost in the chaos, were left behind, or simply need temporary housing while their owners stay in evacuation shelters. Those groups include the SPCA of Texas, Austin Pets Alive!, Dallas Animal Services and the San Antonio Humane Society.

A number of online fundraising sites have also been set up through GoFundMe, with donations benefiting everything from hurricane and disaster relief groups to animals and families in need. The full list of fundraisers can be viewed on GoFundMe’s Hurricane Harvey Relief page.

A number of corporations have launched fundraising drives to aid relief efforts. United Airlines has set up a Crowdrise page where people can donate to a variety of organizations, including the American Red Cross and Operation USA. Apple is allowing customers to donate to the Red Cross via iTunes, and Starbucks patrons can donate to the organization at any U.S. store.

United Way of Houston also has a relief fund. Donors can select an affected county to aid or choose to send their donation to wherever it will do the most good.

Convoy of Hope, a nonprofit that delivers supplies and dispatches volunteers to communities hit by disasters, is collecting donations to help people impacted by Harvey.

2. Donate Blood

Blood centers expect a supply shortage because of the closure of some blood banks along the Texas coast and the likely demand stemming from injuries sustained in the storm. Centers have put out calls for extra donors to help deal with the aftermath.

You can find donation centers or blood drives for the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center here, or for Texas organization Carter BloodCare here.

And even if you’re not in Texas, you can search online for blood drives local to you or book an appointment via the Red Cross website.

3. Provide Accommodation For Evacuees

Airbnb has launched a portal so that the people who have been displaced by the hurricane can find a place to stay. It’s also waiving fees for people affected by the disaster. More details are available on the Airbnb website here.

Bacon Cheesecake

Bacon Cheesecake

I had never tried this recipe before and must admit that I was skeptical about the concept of a Bacon Cheesecake.  I mean really, if the Cheesecake Factory doesn’t offer a bacon cheesecake it can’t be a good cheesecake, right?  Well let me tell you was I wrong yet again…this bacon cheesecake is insanely delicious and addictive.

Add this bacon cheesecake dessert to your list of favorites, because once you try a bite, it’ll be hard to resist the sweet and savory combo of maple syrup and bacon. The crust and filling are super easy to make—just blend them up in a food processor—and caramel sauce finishes it off with some unexpected ingredients: cashew butter and coconut oil. If you feel a craving coming on, get prepping, because this cheesecake needs to freeze overnight to reach its perfect, creamy consistency.

Sing it Mama Cass

Ever so true are the immortal lyrics of the Mama’s and Papa’s song “Monday, Monday, so good to me, Monday, Monday it was all I hoped it would be”… And exactly why is a Monday so good, because at long last the sale of Whole Foods to Amazon will be complete which will translate into lower prices!

Whole Foods has long been a top grocery destination for shoppers eager to spend unnecessarily large amounts of money on food that makes them feel superior to others.  However that is all about to change as Amazon is cutting the prices of bananas, butter, organic eggs, and other best-selling staples at Whole Foods’ 470 stores, promising customers lower costs and targeting the grocer’s “Whole Paycheck” nickname. The online giant also says its Amazon Prime members will get special prices and perks.

New prices will take effect on Monday — the same day Amazon says it will finalize its $13.7 billion acquisition of Whole Foods. The online marketplace, famous for disrupting the book industry and other retail segments, also laid out its plans for combining its business with an established brick-and-mortar chain.

Amazon customers would be able to receive packages — and return items bought online — at Whole Foods locations that include its Lockers service, the retailer said, outlining what customers can expect to see.

Integration of the two companies will also mean Amazon customers will be able to buy Whole Foods’ private label products through its website and local grocery delivery services. Another change would make Prime the loyalty rewards program for Whole Foods customers.

The list of grocery items that will be cheaper at Whole Foods markets next week ranges from bananas, apples and organic avocados to ground beef, salmon and tilapia, along with organic rotisserie chicken and other products.

NaNu NaNu no NaNo

Who can ever forget the comedic genius of Robin Williams. I will never forget his weekly sitcom, Mork and Mindy that co-starred Pam Dawber where he played    Mork, an extraterrestrial who comes to Earth from the planet Ork and his Orkian greeting, “NaNu NaNu”. Now after trying the Nano Towel I think they are also out of this world!  At first we were skeptical when  hearing about them as we did not believe that this towel was any different from other towels sold at a local store. In fact, this very same towel was introduced to us several years ago. We’ve put it aside until recently, where we’ve started to test it.

Bonkers over Bananas

When it’s time for dessert, how do you choose between two favorite banana recipes? You don’t! Instead, we combine them—think Bananas Foster meets a banana split. Rather than bruleeing the fruit in a sauce made from butter, sugar, and cream, we use coconut oil and coconut sugar. A homemade chocolate sauce and crunchy super food toppings like hemp seeds and cacao nibs round out this satisfying treat.

    Little Blue Balls

These blue balls, patented technology, are proven to be a durable, healthy and environmentally friendly alternative to laundry detergent, completely eliminating your reliance on harsh chemical detergents forever. The truth is water is a powerful element and a universal solvent. Detergent simply enhances water’s already existing powerful cleaning potential. How? By changing the surface tension of the water. This helps water molecules become more spaced out and slippery to pull out the dirt trapped in dirty clothes.

click picture below to view video

    Product Features

With multiple permanent magnets arranged in a unique configuration, the MLS generates a powerful magnetic field to do just that, to change the surface tension of the water, – just like detergent does, only without all the toxic chemicals.

No more wasting money on harsh chemical detergents many of which are made of synthetic, hazardous, petroleum based chemicals – which are linked to health problems: headaches, skin sensitivities, allergies, respiratory irritations, asthma and even cancer.

These chemicals don’t rinse out; they hang around as residue and get absorbed through your skin over time, build up in the body and can wreak havoc on your health. When they do rinse out they go on to polluting our water supply, aquatic life, and environment. Just imagine how much chemicals have ended up in your body, how much money you have spent on detergent, and how much energy you have wasted battling with skin sensitivities and allergies. Make the switch today!

    Instructions

Simply put the MLS in your washer. You can leave the magnets in there and never think about them again. It is a reusable, onetime buy, with a 50 years manufacturer’s warranty.

We would not support this product if it didn’t provide:

    100% Money Back Guarantee
    100% Satisfaction Guarantee

    Berry Mango Sorbet (video)

Keep the taste of summer alive with this elegant  yet simple Berry Mango Sorbet.  Making your own grain-free and dairy-free desserts can be a daunting task, especially when you are new to the Paleo way of life, but this strawberry mango sorbet is so easy to make that there is no way to go wrong.

Exactly what is Sorbet and isn’t it the same as sherbet?

Sorbet is a pure frozen delight, containing just fruit and sugar, while sherbet is halfway between sorbet and ice cream (it contains a bit of dairy to make it smoother).  If you prefer your sorbet a wee bit creamier, think sherbet, add just a dash of coconut or almond milk and let the flavors meld together.

Hmmm, Why is Organic Food Expensive?

Hmmm, why is organic food expensive?

As anyone who has ever walked through a supermarket can see foods that are labeled аѕ оrgаniс have a much higher price. If you are like me you might have asked yourself why  does it соѕt more than “rеgulаr” fооd? And is it actually better for you?

Thiѕ mаkеѕ their сrорѕ susceptible tо inѕесtѕ аnd in gеnеrаl their crop production iѕ muсh ѕmаllеr than that оf a rеgulаr fаrmеr. Breastaurant Hooters BUSTED

    Kate Taylor – businessinsider.com

The “Breastaurant” Hooters is BUSTED.. .thanks in part to  Millennials being less interested in breasts than their elders.

People from the age of 18 to 24 are 19% less likely to search for breasts on pornographic website Pornhub compared to all other age groups, according to an analysis conducted by the website.

For comparison, Pornhub visitors from the ages of 55 to 64 are 17% more likely to search for breast-related content.

Millennials’ pornography preferences seem to be part of a wider trend.

“At the moment, larger breasts are out, though I’m sure they’ll come back,” Sarah Pedersen, professor of communications and media at Robert Gordon University, told Playboy. “We tend to react to what went before.”

For “breastaurants” like Hooters and Twin Peaks, a loss of interest in breasts is bad for business. The number of Hooters locations in the US has dropped by more than 7% from 2012 to 2016, and sales have stagnated, according to industry reports.

Part of Hooters’ struggles are tied to the sales slump that is hitting most sit-down causal-dining chains. But a lack of interest in waitresses’ cleavage — especially when there are breastaurants like Twin Peaks promising more scandalous experiences elsewhere — likely isn’t helping.

Hooters has struggled to win over millennials for some time now. In 2012, the chain attempted to revamp its image with updated decor and new menu items to attract more millennial and female customers.

In light of the decline of breasts’ influence in America, it comes as no surprise that Hooters has been emphasizing catering and opened up a fast-casual location with fully clothed servers — women and men called Hoots earlier in 2017.

While porn habits may change, millennials still love chicken wings.

It’s amazing to think that pudding can be made from avocado and cocoa powder with a little bit of maple syrup to sweeten it up. Avocado makes a great choice for pudding because of its texture.
